I launched my editorial career on the masthead of national magazines in NYC (my roots) and Los Angeles, including McCall’s, Teen, and Marie Claire. As a staffer, I toggled between developing visually-driven lifestyle pieces--working on photos shoots; writing clear, catchy display and service text (while forming my inner foodie with visits to a magazine test kitchen)--and editing columns and features (behind some incredible mentors, I should add).

After leaping into the freelance world, I skillfully tackled straight editorial, branded content, and SEO-targeted pieces for numerous national and local magazines and top websites. I also contributed to restaurant and travel city guides, and created whitepapers for beauty-industry-related marketing. My assignments have covered a breadth of subjects, from an emotional multi-installment series for Redbook on parenting a child with autism to revealing the perfect honeymoon destinations for readers of The Knot (this is a regular niche that quiets the wanderlust). Health, parenting, food, travel, fitness, careers, home decor…all within my comfort zone. Twice, I’ve earned national health awards for pieces appearing separately in Parents magazine. My biggest strengths: Connecting with interview subjects, especially “real people” for human interest pieces; churning out fresh ideas and packaging for stories; bending my tone to sync with the outlet at hand; and unpacking and relaying info, particularly health research, into ACCURATE, down-to-earth conversational content.

What do I love about this work ? 1. It continually teaches me a little about a whole lot. 2. I can indulge my passions: travel, good food, cool design, and meeting interesting people. Outside work, I’m practicing yoga, planning my next trip (real or imaginary), or on a trail in my adopted home of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Cheers!
